Bioelectrical Impedance

Bioelectrical impedance is a method used to estimate body composition by sending a very small, safe electrical current through the body. Since different tissues, like fat and muscle, conduct electricity differently—muscle being good at conducting and fat being less so—the device measures the resistance or impedance to the current. By analyzing these measurements, it can estimate the amount of lean body mass versus fat. This technique is quick, non-invasive, and commonly used in health and fitness assessments to monitor body composition changes over time.
