Bharat Stage Emission Standards
Bharat Stage Emission Standards (BSES) are regulations in India that set limits on the amount of pollutants vehicles can emit. These standards, similar to the European Union's emissions regulations, aim to improve air quality and reduce environmental impact by controlling emissions of harmful substances like nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Introduced in 2000, the standards have evolved over time, with each phase (Bharat Stage I to VI) becoming stricter. Compliance with these norms is mandatory for all vehicles sold in India, encouraging cleaner technologies and fostering a shift toward more environmentally friendly transportation.
