Battle of Little Bighorn
The Battle of Little Bighorn, fought on June 25-26, 1876, was a significant conflict during the Great Sioux War. It occurred in Montana between the U.S. Army, led by General George Custer, and a coalition of Native American tribes, mainly the Lakota Sioux and Cheyenne. Custer's forces underestimated their opponents and were surrounded and overwhelmed. The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Native Americans, but it also led to increased military efforts by the U.S. government against them. Custer's last stand became a symbol of the struggles between Native Americans and American expansion.
