Bar Kokhba

Bar Kokhba was the leader of a Jewish revolt against Roman rule in Judea from 132 to 135 CE, known as the Bar Kokhba Rebellion. The revolt sought to establish a free Jewish state and was sparked by religious and political oppression. Bar Kokhba, whose name means "son of the star," was viewed as a messianic figure. The uprising initially met with some success, but ultimately, the Romans crushed it, leading to significant loss of life and the expulsion of Jews from Jerusalem. This rebellion marked a pivotal moment in Jewish history and the struggle for autonomy.
