Bandi Chhor Divas
Bandi Chhor Divas, also known as the Day of Liberation, is celebrated by Sikhs to commemorate the release of Guru Hargobind Ji, the sixth Sikh Guru, from imprisonment in 1619. The Guru was held captive by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir but was released after negotiating the freedom of 52 Hindu kings imprisoned alongside him. This day, which often coincides with the Hindu festival of Diwali, symbolizes the victory of justice and the importance of standing up for the oppressed. It is celebrated with prayers, community gatherings, and the lighting of lamps.
