Backbench Business Committee
The Backbench Business Committee is a group within the UK Parliament, specifically the House of Commons. Its main role is to allow Members of Parliament (MPs) who are not part of the government or opposition front benches—known as backbenchers—to propose and select topics for debate. Established in 2010, this committee aims to ensure that a wider range of issues, often neglected by the government, are discussed in Parliament. This enhances parliamentary democracy by giving backbench MPs, representing various constituencies, a voice in influencing national discussions.
