Azad Jammu and Kashmir Government
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is a self-governing administrative region administered by Pakistan. Established after the First Indo-Pakistani War in 1947-1948, it has its own government, constitution, and legal system. While it enjoys a degree of autonomy, it remains subject to the Pakistan constitution in certain areas. The region’s capital is Muzaffarabad, and it has a legislative assembly elected by the people. AJK's government focuses on local governance, development, and representation, while its residents also have close ties with both Pakistani and Kashmiri identity, particularly regarding the larger dispute over the Kashmir region.
