Axes (Mathematics)

In mathematics, axes are the reference lines used in a coordinate system to define points in space. The most common system is the Cartesian coordinate system, which has two axes: the horizontal x-axis and the vertical y-axis. Together, they divide the space into four quadrants, helping to locate points using pairs of numbers (coordinates). For three-dimensional spaces, a third axis (the z-axis) is added, allowing the representation of points in height, depth, and width. Axes help visualize and analyze relationships between different variables in mathematics and various applied fields, such as physics and engineering.
