Asymmetric encryption
Asymmetric encryption is a method of securing information using two related keys: a public key and a private key. The public key, as its name suggests, can be shared with anyone to encrypt messages. However, only the holder of the private key can decrypt those messages, ensuring that only they can read them. This system allows for secure communication and data exchange without needing to share secret keys. It underpins many online security protocols, such as SSL/TLS for secure websites, protecting sensitive information like credit card numbers and personal data during transmission.
