Article 29 Data Protection Working Party
The Article 29 Data Protection Working Party was an advisory body established under European Union law to provide guidance on data protection issues. Composed of representatives from EU member states’ data protection authorities, it aimed to promote consistent application of data protection laws, particularly the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The group helped shape policies, issued opinions on data processing practices, and clarified the rights of individuals regarding their personal data. In 2018, it was replaced by the European Data Protection Board, which continues its mission to ensure strong and unified data protection across Europe.
