Arjun Singh

Arjun Singh was an influential Indian politician, best known for his tenure as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a key member of the Indian National Congress party. Born in 1930, he played a significant role in Indian politics from the 1980s through the 1990s. Singh is particularly recognized for his advocacy of the Mandal Commission report, which recommended reservations for other backward classes in government jobs and educational institutions, greatly impacting social justice and affirmative action policies in India. He served in various ministerial roles, including as Minister of Human Resource Development. Singh passed away in 2011.
