
Ararat (the mountain)
Mount Ararat is a prominent dormant volcano located in eastern Turkey, near the border with Armenia. Standing at 5,137 meters (16,854 feet), it is the highest peak in the country and is often associated with the biblical story of Noah's Ark, which is said to have landed on its slopes after the Great Flood. The mountain features two main summits: Greater Ararat and Lesser Ararat. Its snow-capped peak is a symbol of national pride for Armenians and is a popular destination for hikers and climbers, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
