Appellate Litigation

Appellate litigation is the process of challenging the decision of a lower court in a higher court. After a trial, if one party believes there was a legal error that affected the outcome, they can appeal the decision. The appellate court reviews the case based on written briefs and sometimes oral arguments, focusing on legal issues rather than re-examining the facts. Its goal is to determine whether the lower court made a mistake in applying the law. The appellate court can affirm, reverse, or modify the original decision, or sometimes send the case back for further proceedings.
