Aortic Regurgitation

Aortic regurgitation is a heart condition where the aortic valve, which normally closes tightly to prevent blood from flowing backward into the heart, doesn’t close properly. This causes some blood to leak back into the heart from the aorta during each heartbeat. Over time, this can lead to the heart enlarging and not functioning as effectively, which may cause symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, and increased heart rate. Treatment can involve monitoring or, in more severe cases, surgical repair or replacement of the faulty valve to restore proper blood flow.
