Anti-DNA antibodies

Anti-DNA antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system that mistakenly target and attach to DNA, the genetic material in our cells. Normally, the immune system protects the body from infections, but in some cases, it can become overactive or misguided, leading to autoimmune diseases like lupus. In these conditions, the presence of anti-DNA antibodies indicates that the body is attacking its own tissues, causing inflammation and damage. Clinicians often measure these antibodies to help diagnose and monitor autoimmune disorders.
