Anthropocene Working Group

The Anthropocene Working Group (AWG) is a group of scientists and researchers studying a proposed new geological epoch called the Anthropocene, which reflects significant human impact on Earth’s geology and ecosystems. This concept suggests that human activities, like industrialization and pollution, have fundamentally altered the planet, distinguishing this period from previous ones. The AWG aims to provide evidence and recommendations for officially recognizing the Anthropocene as a separate geological era, highlighting our role in climate change, biodiversity loss, and geological changes, thus raising awareness about our environmental responsibilities.
