Ankle Fractures
Ankle fractures occur when one or more of the bones in the ankle joint break due to trauma, such as a fall, twist, or impact. Symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty walking. Treatment typically involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation (the RICE method), along with immobilization in a cast or boot. In more severe cases, surgery may be needed to realign the bones. Recovery can take weeks to months, depending on the severity of the fracture and adherence to rehabilitation exercises to restore strength and mobility.
