Ancient Egyptian Language
Ancient Egyptian language was spoken by the people of Egypt for over 3,000 years, evolving through several stages from Old Egyptian to Coptic. It was written using hieroglyphs, which are picture symbols representing words or sounds, along with hieratic and demotic scripts for everyday use. The language combined phonetic elements and ideograms, allowing complex ideas to be conveyed visually and symbolically. Modern understanding of it has advanced through the translation of texts like the Rosetta Stone, revealing insights into Egyptian culture, religion, and administration. Although no longer spoken, its study aids our knowledge of ancient Egyptian civilization.
