Analog computing

Analog computing is a form of computation that uses continuous physical quantities to represent information, unlike digital computing, which relies on discrete values (0s and 1s). In analog computers, variables like voltage, current, or mechanical motion simulate mathematical equations and processes. For example, an analog device might use electrical circuits to model changes in temperature or speed. Historically, analog computers were used for tasks such as trajectory calculations in engineering and military applications. While less common today, they still find niche uses in specific fields due to their ability to solve complex problems in real-time.
