Amsler Grid
The Amsler grid is a visual tool used by eye care professionals to assess central vision and detect vision problems, particularly in individuals with conditions like macular degeneration. It consists of a rectangular grid of straight lines with a central dot. Patients are asked to cover one eye and focus on the dot; they then observe any distortions, missing lines, or blurred areas in the grid. Changes in perception can indicate abnormalities in the retina or macula, prompting further examination. Regular use of the Amsler grid helps in early detection of vision deterioration.
