Ames room
An Ames room is a distorted room designed to create an optical illusion of size—making people appear much larger or smaller than they actually are. The room's shape and structure are intentionally skewed: it is not a regular rectangular space but constructed with sloped walls and a refracted ceiling. When viewed through a specific peephole from a fixed vantage point, it appears as a normal rectangular room. However, the objects or people inside seem to change size drastically—one looks enormous while another appears tiny—challenging our perception of relative size and distance.
