AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America)
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program aimed at combating poverty in the United States. Participants, known as VISTA members, commit to a year of service with nonprofit organizations or government agencies, focusing on building capacity to help communities become self-sufficient. They engage in projects that promote education, economic opportunity, and health, among other areas. In return, VISTA members receive a living stipend, training, and options for education awards or loan deferment. The program harnesses volunteerism to address systemic issues and improve the quality of life in underserved communities.
