American Society for Training & Development (ASTD)

The American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) was a professional organization dedicated to supporting and advancing workplace learning and development. It provided resources, research, and networking opportunities for trainers, educators, and HR professionals to improve skills, performance, and organizational effectiveness. By promoting best practices in employee training and development, ASTD aimed to help organizations grow and adapt in a competitive business environment. In 2014, ASTD merged with the International Society for Performance Improvement to form the Association for Talent Development (ATD), which continues its mission today.
