Alliance for Progress
The Alliance for Progress was a U.S. initiative launched in 1961 under President John F. Kennedy aimed at fostering economic development and political stability in Latin America. It sought to improve living conditions, reduce poverty, and counter the spread of communism by promoting democratic governance and social reforms. The program provided financial aid and support for educational, health, and infrastructure projects in participating countries. While it had some successes, challenges such as political resistance and economic instability limited its long-term impact, and it eventually faded in importance by the 1970s.
