Akhenaten
Akhenaten was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, ruling during the 18th dynasty around 1353-1336 BC. He is most known for radically changing traditional Egyptian polytheism by promoting the worship of a single deity, Aten, the sun disk. This shift towards monotheism is often seen as one of the first instances in history. Akhenaten also relocated the capital to a new city, Akhetaten (modern-day Amarna), and fostered a distinctive artistic style. His reign marked a significant departure from conventional practices, but after his death, Egypt returned to its traditional beliefs and art.
