Ahom dynasty

The Ahom dynasty was a powerful kingdom that ruled parts of northeastern India, primarily in Assam, from the 13th to the 19th century. Originating from Tai people migrating from Southeast Asia, they established a strong and sophisticated administration, resisting many invasions, including the Mughal Empire. The Ahoms contributed significantly to regional culture, with unique customs, language, and architecture. Their rule lasted nearly 600 years, making them one of the longest continuous dynasties in Indian history. They ultimately fell to the British in 1826, ending their long-standing sovereignty and integrating Assam into British India.
