Ahmadnagar Sultanate
The Ahmadnagar Sultanate was a medieval kingdom in western India, established in 1490 by Muhammad Nur Shah II, and part of the larger Deccan Sultanates. It was known for its strategic location, thriving trade, and resistance against neighboring powers like the Mughals and the Vijayanagara Empire. The Sultanate experienced periods of expansion, cultural growth, and internal conflicts until it was annexed by the Mughal Empire in 1610. Today, Ahmadnagar is recognized for its historical forts, mosques, and its role in shaping the politics and culture of the Deccan region.
