Afghan National Defense and Security Forces

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) were Afghanistan’s military, police, and security agencies responsible for protecting the country, maintaining order, and defending against threats. They included the Afghan Army, police, and other security units, trained and equipped to support national stability. The forces aimed to uphold sovereignty, combat insurgencies, and implement law and order. Their effectiveness depended on ongoing training, resources, and cooperation with international partners. Following political changes in 2021, many components were absorbed or disbanded, impacting the security landscape in Afghanistan.
