Acts of Parliament

Acts of Parliament are laws that have been officially approved by a country's parliament. In the UK, for example, the process starts with a proposal called a bill, which goes through several stages of debate and revision in both Houses of Parliament—the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Once both houses agree on the final version, the bill is sent to the monarch for royal assent. After receiving this, it becomes law and is enforced throughout the country.
