2008 Mumbai attacks
The 2008 Mumbai attacks were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks that occurred in November in Mumbai, India. Several armed attackers, linked to the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba, targeted multiple locations, including luxury hotels, a train station, and a Jewish community center. Over four days, the attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 166 people and injured more than 300. The incident highlighted vulnerabilities in India's security and led to significant changes in counterterrorism strategies. It also strained India-Pakistan relations and raised global awareness about terrorism in South Asia.
