Zhangzhung

Zhangzhung was an ancient civilization and spiritual culture that thrived around 500 BCE to 8th century CE in what is now western Tibet. Known for its rich spiritual traditions, it influenced Tibetan Buddhism and developed unique practices like internal yoga and meditation. The culture was centered around sacred mountain regions, and its language and script are linked to early Tibetan spiritual texts. Despite being largely forgotten with time, Zhangzhung plays a significant role in understanding Himalayan spiritual history and the development of Tibetan religious practices today.
