Zengids
The Zengids were a Muslim dynasty of Turkmen origin that ruled parts of the Middle East, mainly Syria and northern Iraq, during the 12th and early 13th centuries. They emerged from a military leader named Imad al-Din Zengi, who aimed to unite Muslim territories and defend against Crusaders. Known for their strongfortresses and skilled leaders, the Zengids successfully resisted Crusader invasions and contributed to the re-establishment of Muslim control in the region. Their rule was characterized by military strength, strategic diplomacy, and efforts to protect and expand Islamic lands during a turbulent period marked by conflict with Crusaders and rival Muslim states.
