The Yorkshire Ripper is the nickname given to Peter Sutcliffe, an English serial killer who operated in the late 1970s. He was responsible for the murders of 13 women and the attempted murder of several others, primarily in West Yorkshire. Sutcliffe's crimes primarily targeted sex workers, employing brutal methods of violence. He was arrested in 1980 and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1981. The case highlighted issues in police investigations and the challenges of addressing violence against women. Sutcliffe died in 2020 while still serving his sentence.
