Yellow Turban Rebellion
The Yellow Turban Rebellion was a major peasant uprising in China around 184 CE, during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Sparked by widespread poverty, famine, and corruption, thousands of peasants joined the movement led by Zhang Jue, who promoted Taoist ideals. They wore yellow turbans as symbols. Although the rebellion was eventually suppressed, it significantly weakened the central government and contributed to the dynasty's decline. The uprising highlighted social unrest caused by economic inequality and poor governance, and it influenced future upheavals in Chinese history.
