Yeast Two-Hybrid

The Yeast Two-Hybrid (Y2H) is a laboratory technique used to discover if two proteins interact with each other. It works by splitting a protein into two parts and attaching each part to separate proteins called "bait" and "prey." These parts are introduced into yeast cells. If the bait and prey proteins bind or interact, they bring the two halves of a special reporter protein together, which then activates a detectable signal, like growth or color change. This method helps scientists identify and study how proteins communicate within cells, providing insights into biological processes and disease mechanisms.
