William Ménière

William Ménière was a French physician who, in the 19th century, first described a disorder affecting the inner ear now known as Ménière's disease. This condition causes episodes of vertigo (spinning dizziness), fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and a feeling of fullness or pressure in the affected ear. It results from abnormal fluid buildup in the inner ear, disrupting balance and hearing functions. While the exact cause is unknown, it often occurs in episodes and can significantly impact quality of life. Management includes lifestyle modifications, medications, and sometimes surgical interventions.
