Wilfley Table
A Wilfley Table is a device used in mineral processing to separate valuable minerals from unwanted rock or dirt. It consists of a flat, sloped surface with riffles (raised patterns). As the mixture is washed over the table and gently shaken, heavier minerals settle into the riffles and are collected separately, while lighter materials move away. This process uses differences in density and particle size to achieve separation efficiently. Wilfley tables are commonly used in gold prospecting, mining, and recycling operations for their effectiveness in concentrating specific minerals or metals from ore or debris.
