Whole Spice
Whole spices are intact spice seeds, berries, or wood pieces used to deliver flavor during cooking. Unlike ground spices, they retain their aromatic oils longer, providing a more potent and fresh aroma when toasted or sautéed. Examples include cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and peppercorns. They are often used in stocks, stews, or for grinding fresh before adding to dishes. Because they are unprocessed, whole spices can be stored longer than ground spices and offer a more robust flavor when freshly prepared.
