Whole numbers
Whole numbers are non-negative numbers that include zero and all positive integers like 1, 2, 3, and so on. They do not include fractions, decimals, or negative numbers. Think of whole numbers as the basic counting numbers used to count objects or measure quantities without any parts or negatives. They are fundamental in mathematics for counting, sequencing, and measuring. For example, when counting apples, the quantities are whole numbers—0 apples, 1 apple, 2 apples, etc. Whole numbers form the foundation for many other mathematical concepts and number systems.
