Whistlers
Whistlers are very low-frequency radio signals generated by natural phenomena in the Earth's magnetosphere, often triggered by solar activity like solar flares. These signals travel along Earth's magnetic field lines and are typically observed as faint, repeating tones in radio receivers, especially in the radio frequency range of a few kilohertz. They are of interest to scientists because they reveal information about space weather, Earth's magnetic environment, and plasma processes in near-Earth space. Whistlers are quite distinct from everyday sounds; they are primarily detected with specialized radio equipment and help researchers better understand space phenomena.
