Westminster-systeem
The Westminster system is a form of parliamentary government originating from the UK, where the executive branch (the government) is drawn from the legislative branch (parliament). Power is held by a prime minister and cabinet, who are chosen from the party with the most seats in the lower house of parliament. This system emphasizes responsible government, meaning the cabinet must maintain the confidence of parliament to stay in power. It features a constitutional monarchy (or republic), with an elected legislature, and encourages bipartisan cooperation, accountability, and transparency in governance.
