Western Han
The Western Han Dynasty, lasting from 202 BCE to 9 CE, was a major Chinese ruling period founded by Liu Bang, later Emperor Gaozu. It established a strong centralized government, expanding China's territory and cultural influence. The dynasty is known for advances in arts, science, and technology, including the development of paper. It also fostered the Silk Road trade, connecting China with Europe and Asia. The Western Han laid important foundations for Chinese civilization, promoting stability, Confucian ideals, and economic prosperity before its fall in 9 CE, which led to a brief period of disunity before the Eastern Han period began.
