Wellington's Peninsular Strategy
Wellington's Peninsular Strategy was a military campaign during the early 19th century aimed at weakening Napoleon's France by fighting his forces in Spain and Portugal. Instead of directly invading France, Wellington coordinated with British, Spanish, and Portuguese armies to engage the French in a series of battles across the Iberian Peninsula. This approach drained French resources, disrupted their supply lines, and kept Napoleon's forces tied down externally. The strategy also gained local support by promoting resistance movements. Ultimately, it helped to weaken Napoleon’s hold on Europe and contributed significantly to his downfall.
