War of the Three Kingdoms

The War of the Three Kingdoms (1639–1651) was a series of interconnected conflicts in Britain involving England, Scotland, and Ireland. Rooted in disputes over religion, royal authority, and political power, it included events like the English Civil War and Scottish and Irish uprisings. Royalists (supporting King Charles I) fought against Parliament forces seeking greater parliamentary control. These wars resulted in the temporary overthrow of the monarchy, the establishment of a republican government under Oliver Cromwell, and significant political and religious upheaval, shaping modern Britain's constitutional development and impacting the relationship between monarchy and Parliament.
