Waltz's Neorealism

Waltz's Neorealism, also called structural realism, is a theory in international relations that suggests that the international system's structure—specifically its lack of a central authority—inforces states to prioritize their survival. Because no higher power exists to protect them, states act mainly to ensure their security through power and alliances. The theory emphasizes that the way the system is organized, not individual state behavior or intentions, determines how states behave and interact on the global stage, leading to a balance of power where no single country dominates.
