Vytautas Landsbergis is a Lithuanian politician and historian who played a key role in leading Lithuania’s independence from the Soviet Union in the late 20th century. As a founding member of the Lithuanian Reform Movement—known as Sąjūdis—he became the first head of Lithuania’s Parliament after independence was restored in 1990. Lansbergsis is respected for his dedication to national sovereignty, democracy, and cultural identity. Throughout his career, he has been an influential advocate for human rights and European integration, helping Lithuania transition from Soviet rule to an independent, democratic nation.
