VX

VX is a highly toxic chemical compound classified as a nerve agent. It disrupts the normal functioning of the nervous system by inhibiting an essential enzyme, leading to an accumulation of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. This causes severe muscle contractions, respiratory failure, and can lead to death within minutes if exposure is sufficient. VX is odorless and tasteless, making it particularly dangerous as a chemical weapon. While it was developed for military purposes, its use is banned under international law due to its lethal effects and the potential for indiscriminate harm to civilians.
