VTOL aircraft
A VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft is designed to take off, hover, and land vertically, like a helicopter, without needing a runway. This is achieved through specialized engines or rotors that provide lift in all directions. Once airborne, some VTOLs transition to forward flight, often using wings or fixed rotors for efficiency. They are useful in areas with limited space, urban environments, or remote locations, combining the convenience of vertical movement with the speed and range of traditional airplanes. Examples include helicopter-like aircraft, tiltrotors, and drone-like vehicles.
