Virginia Institute of Marine Science

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) is a research center dedicated to studying the science of oceans, estuaries, and coastal areas, primarily in Virginia. It conducts scientific research to improve understanding of marine ecosystems, manage fisheries, protect water quality, and support sustainable use of ocean resources. VIMS also provides education, policy advice, and technological innovations to help communities and policymakers make informed decisions about marine environments.
