Vietnamese independence movement

The Vietnamese independence movement was a struggle to end French colonial rule and establish self-rule. Starting in the early 20th century, nationalists and intellectuals, inspired by global anti-colonial ideas, organized protests, political groups, and armed resistance. Key figures like Ho Chi Minh emerged, advocating for independence based on nationalism and socialism. After decades of conflict, including the First Indochina War, Vietnam finally gained independence in 1954, leading to the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The movement reflected a desire for self-determination, cultural identity, and resistance to imperial domination.
